The Artist Hajime Sorayama was already drawing as a child, and he was particularly interested in technical details. His style is characterized by a strong tendency towards hyperrealism, with his signature being erotic fembot sculptures, crafted from silver Mylar.
This Shirt features an artwork by Sorayama, printed on the iconic Dior monogram logo pattern. The flowy material and the extravagant print make this shirt one of the highlights of the collection.
the Collection
Japanese culture was a key influence in the work of Christian Dior, who employed draping techniques informed by kimonos for many of his dresses. In carrying the history forward, the current creative director Kim Jones chose Japanese art as his mission statement for his Pre-Fall 2019 Collection, and aspired to create a runway show that conjured images of an imagined future. After he saw an exhibition by the Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama at Tokyo’s Nanzuka gallery, he turned up at the artist’s studio that day to propose a collaboration.
