SS19 Mexican Silk Embroidered Vest

Anthony Vaccarello's Spring/Summer 2019 collection marked his first standalone menswear presentation for Saint Laurent, staged at Liberty State Park with the Manhattan skyline as backdrop. Drawing directly from Yves Saint Laurent's personal 1970s wardrobe, the collection centered on black skinny jeans and high-waisted trousers paired with tuxedo jackets featuring leather shoulder panels and collarless shirts with gold folkloric trim. Western Americana influences appeared through snakeskin cowboy boots, red bandanas tied at the neck, and felt western hats, while Marrakech references materialized in belted saharienne jackets, silk printed blouses, and tangled necklaces. Sharp leather blazers and slim black coats maintained refined tailoring, contrasted by open shirts with lacing details down the front and sheer leopard print pieces that channeled rock star ease.
