This Bomber Jacket was part of the last Collection of Calvin Klein under Raf Simons as creative director. It was only widely released in a blue color way while this brown model was only produced in very low quantities. It could might as well be an archive piece from Raf Simon's own collection from the early 2000s. It comes with many insane details and is made with impeccable craftsmanship. The outside is made out of brown nylon and the inside is made out of a soft white cotton layer which makes the jacket very comfortable to wear. The black crossgrain stripe one the back reminds of a lot of some of Rick Owens' jackets & compliments the rest of the jacket perfectly. It is cut in a classic bomber jacket cut with cropped fit and oversized shoulders. Raf partnered with isolation experts Thermore for the padding of some of the Outerwear pieces from his CK205 collections, which makes this Jacket also suitable for very cold conditions.
The SS19 collection from Calvin Klein 205W39NYC was something very special, meanwhile very sad as it was Raf's Goodbye to Calvin Klein after more than 2 years of collaborative work. The whole show was a tribute to american cinema with the movies „Jaws“ and „The Graduate“ being the main inspiration.
Simons called them “very important movies in my memory.” Explaining his attraction, he said “Disasters happen but they turn again into beauty, and beauty is around us and it can oftentimes turn into disaster.”
The references to the movie Jaws were quite literal with the iconic Artwork being used throughout the collection, printed on denim pieces, t-shirts, hoodies and knitwear, it became one of our favorite collection from the brand.
