John Galliano's Fall/Winter 2018 debut menswear collection for Maison Margiela merged the house's deconstructionist approach with his dramatic design vocabulary, presented at the Musée de l'Armée against white walls marked by a bright yellow glyph.

The collection utilized the signature décortiqué technique, stripping garments down to their frames before reassembling them through unexpected combinations: overcoats transformed into jackets, trenches spliced with formal coats, and classic menswear pieces cut apart and reconstructed. Traditional materials like Harris Tweed, herringbone, and flannel contrasted with rubber and polyurethane, while transparent plastic layers revealed the construction methods beneath. Tailoring referenced 1940s silhouettes and military cuts, executed in black, navy, and charcoal grey with bright interruptions of Klein blue, red, and yellow on pieces like the standout faux shearling puffer.
